Twilight Note Book

I love Twilight, anything really since my friend introduced me to the books all of which I have read (easy read about young girl in a small town falls in love with a vampire, I know doesn't sound good at all but if you like romance of a good read this is for you)I also went to see the film, awaiting the DVD release in March. Any way I was reading yet another magazine (Stamper Nov issue) ant there was a book very similar to this but a diary type one, any way as I said I love Twilight so I made this I thought I may send it to my friend in the USA Emily, as she is the lady responsible for introducing me to the books.

Hippo Softie

So Guess what I made today? never done soft toys before. I buy a magazine called 'Sew Hip' (Feb. issue 09) there are always lots of patterns etc so I thought I would give this a go. Its not perfect, but I'm pleased with the results for a first time, it took all day, there are a lot of pieces to fit together. So it was a bit of a challenge, I can make skirts and dresses (simple ones) but this was a bit fiddlie, that's part of the fun of a challenge though isn't it. I think most of the difficulty was in the material I chose it does recommend you use cotton. So what do I do? use fleece, well I thought this would be a nice gift for my grandson James (3 month) and I used safe filling etc felt eyes are glued and sewn on(better to be safe with little ones no buttons or shaker eyes). Well you can never be too careful with a baby. I hope you like this project, why not give it a go, there are plenty of good magazines with freebies to get you started. Good luck and as always if you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.

Valentine cards

This February I made a couple of cards, and decided to give hubby the teddy as the other was a bit girly but I love the Sugar Nellie stamp so much just had to make a card with it. The teddy is called Boo ;-) aah he is such a cutie. I think he is so versatile. No doubt he will pop up on a birthday card as some point. Please ask if you would like to know any thing at all, I will do my best to answer any questions you may have.

My First Softie

So my very first softie, I love it. Even though' it looks kind of armature that is the way it is suppose to look, I will be giving this to my niece Elizabeth for Easter next month, so I have something a little different to give this year.
I do have some sewing ability so this only took a couple of hours to make, if you click on the picture you will be able to get a more detailed look. There are two types of stuffing used for this project, the usual filler and also some (uncooked) chick peas, this gives the bunny a little weight at the bottom and with the pom pom this allows for balance. This pattern is from a book I just bought yesterday called 'Softies' by Theresa Laskey ISBN 978-0-8118-5652-2
I love this book very easy to follow and also all the patterns are in the back so you can get cracking straight way. There are 25 projects and very easy to follow instructions and great photographs too, so if you have always fancied making some softies (plush toys) give this ago it was really easy and fun to do.

Before and After

I really enjoyed doing this challenge, along with the help of the wonderful Michael (hubby). I have to say my favorite part was the set of draws and the wardrobes, the satisfying transformation will forever be in my mind. And it is a great way to get a fab new look with out spending huge amounts of money.

From the photos I hope you can see that not much is new, in fact only the poll for the window, along with the chiffon curtains and the bed are new, the rest have been re painted, I know I surprise my self.

It didn't cost much in comparison to what i would have first thought. I only wish I had taken more photos as the overall change is so dramatic it reminds me of TV programs.

I had never before attempted to change existing furniture, I have to say I am very happy with the results. If you would like to ask any questions please do feel free, and I will help in any way I can (although I am NO expert).

I call this my princess bedroom, I only wish it were a little bigger and I would have a sofa in there so I could spend more time it.

New to Blogging

Hello,
and welcome to my new blog. I will be posting various things about my self on this blog from books i'm reading to family photo's etc. basically all about me and what i'm upto. I have tried having a blog but not being very computer literate I have found it very difficult, and the other thing is continually updating it. It is quite the commitment. However, having looked at so many bloggs I have decided to give it another go. Reading other people's and finding them so interesting to read and look at, it always makes me want to have another go, so here I am. Wish me luck Dawn xx
