SCD Torso 'Of the Sea'

Morning how have you been? I hope your all well. It's Friday the start of the long Bank Holiday weekend ;0) I am picking up my Grandson for the Bank Holiday, have you any special plans? Well, you could always make a Torso over at SCD This week is a great theme by Carol It's our final 'Torso' of the month and we're going out on a wave ha ha 'Of The Sea' well, it's pretty much felt like we have lived in the sea over the last couple of months with all the rain we have had, so I quite liked escaping to the beautiful heat and fun of the sea side making this torso, I hope you can all join in. I am really looking forward to popping round to see all your beautiful pieces this week, as I wasn't around in blog land last week at all, and be assured I missed you guys loads.

Here's my Close Up ;0) I have swiped the base of my torso with DIs and then  stamped some white waves on the coast line (can't really see can you sorry) I then added some of this fabby sequin waste given to me in a swap along with the paper rolled in wire and beads please see a previous post Here for the details of the swap and the lovely Lynn who I swapped with. You can also see some rock with holes in (I loved this texture) and a cute little shell. I do hope you will get time this week to join us at Something Completely Different Please do go over and have a look at the DT examples they have really done some fabby work. Love Dawn xx

SCD Torso 'Red & Black'

It's Friday again! that means SCD. Torso's are the theme of August and this week it's a colour combo of Black & Red! here is my take, and I know you will get lots more inspiration if you pop over to see the rest of the fabulously talented DT.And as GSC are also using the same colour combo I thought I would include it in a challenge.

Here are a couple of close ups. I have used some DI an EF then highlighted with black ink also highlighted a couple of points with glossy accent's I stamped an image on to some fabric also died with DI and frayed the edges. Finally  added some trim to finish off the piece. I do hope you will join in this week with Something Completely Different I am enjoying these torso's and I know you are I saw some really fantastic 'Memories' last week. And don't forget we are doing a swap at the end of the month I hope you can join in. Love Dawn xx

Swap!

My Friend Lynn and I have been having fun making things for one another again :0) we had a theme this time and several things we had to include so the theme was 'Vintage Sea Side' and the three additions were a) something to do with the sea. b) Fabric c) the colour green so this is the criteria they had to fill but it could of been any thing! Lynn made this stunning matchbox I love the netting and the mother of pear bits caught in it, the images are amazing.

The back is just as beautiful as the front! and look at the goodies I got! a mini canvas (how cute!) and the little bottles filed with sequins and beads. I really like the paper she has rolled and added wire and beads to (so time consuming) and you will be seeing them in the next week or so I have used them already but can't show you just yet! So a big thank you to my Buddie Lynn your such a talented artist and  am so glad we're friends.

And here is my swap! This little wooden box is just gorgeous honest it smelt of age I fell in love with it although it had lost it's fasteners along the way. So I altered it to fit our swap. I painted using some paint them put some traditional Tan from studio as a top coat I printed a picture off the Internet and aged it then added it to the box and added a layer of crackle paint  wanted to add this to Linda's tim holtz Monday compendium but I hadn't posted it off and  couldn't show you all until she had seen it. After that some lace was added and inked.

Here's a close up of the bathing beauty!

And this is what I put in side. You may recognise a post card as I made this and showed it in a previous post. I collected some shells and put pebbles in a bottle some vintage stamps, botttle caps and some trim and a cake fork who knows what Lynn will make with all these. I have stamped some shells and used glimmer mist and stickles to decorate the inside lid of the box along with some sequins (thanks Lynn) that I thought finished t off beautifully. I really enjoy my swaps with Lynne and I suggest you give it a go as well if you don't already it's a way of making those internet friends more real and life like and I wouldn't want to swap any of the friends I have made here in blog land your all just the most lovely supportive and happy bunch. Love Dawn xx

WOYWW 63

So it's Wednesday again, and it's time for a snoop round other crafty desks for ideas of storage, what people are making and just a general nosey in to other craft houses ;0) If you would like to join in please stop by Julia's for the details and all the desks to nosey by. I have had to hide a couple of things for the DT I work for so make sure you pop back on Friday and play with Something Completely Different

It's seams the favorite place for the two recent additions (our cats) happens to be my crafty space. This can be SO distracting. Dude generally stays off the table if I take him off. However, Paris thinks it's a constant game to continually jump back up and chase my cursor (so paws are all over my computer screen) and of curse anything on the table is fair game. This means I have to keep tidying up and this is not the best bit of crafting I like to do ;0)

So there you have it a fairly tidy table not so good for noseying this week but thanks for stopping by. Love Dawn xx

I would also like to say a public thank you to Martha for the stunning C&S she sent to me I have e-mailed her but I wanted to share her generosity with others as she has with me.

I have managed to buy this beautiful Royal vale cup and saucers all are in beautiful condition and I also got the milk and sugar bowl pity there wasn't a tea pot  would of loved that too but I am grateful I got these and all are perfect!

I am not sure but believe these are hand painted just so delicate and such wonderful colours. I do hope you can stop by and share the rest of the stunning china that all the ladies share on Tea Cup Tuesday Thank you for stopping by. Love Dawn xx

SCD Torso Memories

Hello, sorry I haven't been around much. Lots of things going on in personal life, back wards and forwards to hospital if' it's not one thing, its another. I swear I know all the doctors and nurses all so well we're all on first name terms ;0) finally they have decided to give me an operation so I will be having a hysterectomy, who would be a woman?  So my apologies for not being around I will try to rectify things honest.

So on to SCD  I can see your all loving the 'Torsos' theme isn't it fun? And you produced  some excellent torso's full of bling last week very cool. This week it's 'Memories' Now there is a lot you can do with this. I was gong to do my usual vintage and ladies then hubby and I were talking about sweets we used to have as kids So I hope you like my torso this week as I have focused on sweets from my past and I LOVE SWEETS. Can you remember the Black Jacks, fruit Salads, shrimps, Space Dust. Chewing tobacco (coconut strands dyed brown in a canvas bag delish) Finger of Fudge, I still remember the whole song for this advert ha ha. So I hope this brings back some fun memories for you. Feel free to share your fave sweeties with me in your comment. There are too many  haven't mentioned and click on the Torso to have a closer look. Have fun, ;0) Love Dawn xx

Tea cup Tuesday 23 and Introducing, Paris!

So it's Tea Cup Tuesday again with Martha and Terry and together they share the most wonderful collections of china and invite you to do the same. Now, I am no way in their league in knowledge or in amount of china I have but all are welcome and there are some really lovely people to out there to meet!

I have a black one like this (well similar) and I just love them both. this little one isn't perfect as the green enamel has a couple of little white specks visible however the gilding and painted roses are just so gorgeous!

I am sure the avid collectors out there spotted this little beauty for an Aynsley straight away. so I have a few of these now and they are fast becoming a favourite with me. I have building my little collection up of this and that and hope to be back next week with more TC&S to share.

Meet Paris. Any regular followers will know  have been waiting for some kittens to be ready at the local rescue center of dogs and cats near us in Hyde. and the kitten we were hoping to get is still not ready however on going in to see how the new kittens were doing  saw this darling kitten in a cage by her self and when I read the story I had to bring her home there and then. This poor beautiful little kitten was found roaming some grass land not far from a stream/canal. Completely on her own. a search was made for her mother and siblings but no others were found so how this poor little one came to be on her own we can only guess. But as there were no residential houses close buy it's any ones guess how she came to be on her own wandering around. (I don't even want to think about it)

Here she is bathing!

This is her showing off her new collar which is still far too big!

And here you get a real close up! My hubby is just amazed how people can do these things and she will now have a wonderful safe home. As predicted Dude, loves his new playmate ;0) here he is peeping at her from the table while Paris plays under the table. This was so funny she spotted him and ran up the stairs and Dude gave chase. She was a little frightened when he caught up with her but he did nothing he just wanted her to play tag and that was that for the next ten minuets them two running up and down the stairs. Hunny is not impressed however. She has twice gone for  Paris in a aggressive way but she'll come round. Her and Dude are best friends now I just think she's bit jealous. Well that's all from me for today thank you for your visits. Love Dawn xx

SCD Torso's Bling

Well  another month is here with SCD and this month is going to be 'TORSO' and this week will be 'Bling' now your torso has to be the same size as an ATC as we will be doing a swap at the end of the month, isn't that fun? More about this later in the month. Now I visited some great tags last month and some really cleaver views on our weekly titles. I do hope your going to play this month too! We're nothing with out your participation.

So here is my Torso, You all know I love anything Paris related  and in my mind Paris is all the bling you will ever need lol so here it is. I have took some fragments and one I have added Alcohol inks to, I like the focal point it makes. The other fragment has Stickles (diamond) under it to make a blingy focal point at the top of the Eiffel Tower. I have also taken some distress stickles (more subdude) and used this at certain joints in the tower.

I think you can see the sparkle better in this CU shot. I have taken an image from the Graphics Fairy, and cut it out to fit the torso ATC I have used some inks to distress as well as some stickles etc and I stamped Paris on there too. I was going to add some swirls as well but I managed to stop my self ;0) Some times you can put too much on a project can't you? Well I hope you like this but please go to the SCD blog and go and see the other DT I know you will find lots of inspiration ;0) Love Dawn xx.

Items Used:- Image Graphic Fairy. Stamps, Oxford impressions. Distress inks, stickles, Ranger. Fragments and alcohol inks Tim Holtz.

WOYWW 61 & Dawnies ATC swap

So it's WOYWW with Julia I have missed a few weeks, and I missed you all. But the desk isn't it's normal fairly tidy self, it's a tip! I haven't created much in the way of finished projects it's more doing lots of bits to make my art with. I have really been transferring a lot of images on to various materials this has been so much fun! but have only used one of them on an ATC which I posted yesterday if you want to have a look. There's a piece I made with my melt pot! and some Die Cuts. Some books & magazines I am reading (referring to) and some new Graphic 45 DP AIWL Halloween style really nice. Although we're not big on sending people Halloween cards etc I though some ATCs at some point would be good. Any way thanks for stopping by I will have a nosey at your desks through the day ;0)

The above ATCs are from my monthly swap with Petra The theme was French/Paris and these above are what I made and below are Petra's isn't she talented?

Now I hope you can draw some inspiration from our swap which we did in the month of June. At the end of Aug I'll show you our July swap. If you would like to create some French/Paris ATCs I would love to see what you have come up with, and I'll show some on my blog, if you have a go let me know and I'll pop by in the mean time, Have a fabby day Love Dawn xx

Tea cup Tuesday 22 and an ATC

I love Tea Cup Tuesday with Terry and Martha. Another chance to see some wonderful china and gardens. I have made some lovely friends with TCT and I look forward to it each week.

Isn't this little set just lovely? not a mark on it and lovely and bright but not in your face (if you know what I mean) This is more English china by Argyle (Burslem Staffordshire) The shape is just lovely I think it's a pedistal shape? the gilding is just perfect not often I get really perfect pieces.

Are you loving the challenges with Linda as much as me? This weeks is all about Grunge board/paper on page 39 of the Compendium of Curiosities. Nice back to basics, but you can do so much with grunge board. I also thought I would combne this with Hels Something old (grunge board) Something new (the TH DPs yummy). This is also the challenge over at Artistic Stamper So I hope you like my ATC.

This image has been transferd on to material. The papers are lovely from Tim and I have used the Grunge Board from the plain elements coloured with DI and then stamped with scriped. I hope you can get a chance to look at some lovely china or join in with the challenge at Linda's. Love Dawn xx

Items Used:- Plain cardstock. Stamps, SU. Image, Suzie Q. Distress Inks (DI), Ranger. Grunge board, Tickets, Design papers & Pins Tim Holtz. Material stash.

Compedium of Curiosites week 7

I hope your all having a fabby weekend. Oh I had fun making this. It's for Linda's Challenge 7  tinted vision fragments. On page 55 I didn't have any fragments so I have improvised with this gorgeous eye glass.

Here's a close up. Very simple to make actually.  Some Stamp board then distress inks and then a darker colour for the french script stamp a few pearls and a wee bit of ribbon and all other details are in Tim Holts latest book Compendium of Curiosites. The image is just wonderful and I really went for the vintage look on this twinchie, sorry I wasn't round much last week but I hope to put a change to that this week I already have a few projects on the go so pop back soon.

Oh I just had to share this little buy with you, what do you think? I fell in love with it at this antique place we goto every so often. Hubby wants to restore it,  can't blame him actually it's in really good working order just a bit rusty. It brought back lots of memories back for him ;0) However, I have other plans for it. Can you guess? I am sure you can, I have seen old fashiond bikes painted and made in to a garden feacher. I want to put this in the front garden, it's very small but it has a beautiful cherry tree in it which  planted when we moved in eleven yrs ago so it's getting kind big ha ha but great cherrys every year. I'm waffeling again ;0) I wanted to ask for suggestions actually, my front door is red so
  1. first do I paint it at all?
  2. if I do paint it what colour?
We were in Chester not long ago and I saw some bright yellow, they looked amazing, but I am stuck as to what to do now. I want to add a basket and pop some yummy flowers in. Hubby is ok with it as a garden feacher bless him. So what do I do? let me know your thoughts. Love Dawn xx
