Service and Crafting, what a great day!

Morning every one. I hope you had a wonderful weekend, I had a super weekend filled with service and crafting, what better way to spend ones time lol. My only regret was I didn't take my camera to record the day :0( Saturday was an amazing day. I belong to the oldest/largest women's club in the world, and many of you may not of even heard of it! It's called 'Relief Society', and this club is in the 'Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints' This Saturday after much organisation we had a very successful day serving others.

We made over 100 jiffy bags for the Armed Forces abroad. We made thirty Blankets/Quilts for the local children's hospital, plus we sent gifts to some of our oldest local members that are now in homes and a choir to sing to them. And we made almost 500 hand made cards to send to local charity shops so they could raise funds. Our motto is 'Charity never faileth' obviously we do lots of small service each week as individuals. However, a few times each year we get together to serve on a large scale all over the world and we each choose what we would like to do and then we Just do it

I am so proud to be a member of this group of wonderful women and a church that also helps others on a larger scale. Recently our Prophet  Thomas S Monson went to Pakistan to show our support to those in need “On behalf of the government of Pakistan, I would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to President (Thomas S.) Monson, to the leadership, and all the members of the flock for their contribution,” said Haqqani of the 400,000 pounds of food, blankets and relief aid shipped to Pakistan. Our church is able to do this in many disaster situations through out the world because of our members donations. If you would like to know more about our church and how we help others please visit Here to learn more. And we are also one of the world leaders in family history (you don't have to be a member to use our facilities) so again just click Here for further help.

On Saturday evening we went to a baptism, such a wonderful experience. Hubby and I were asked to do the talks and this is the card I  made to welcome our new member.

I thought I would do the inside as well . After all the blankets and cards I had made on Saturday morning (plus the box full I donated) I really  was full of the spirit of the lord. I is always wonderful to serve others and we receive such blessings when we do these things.  I later decided to make a holder and added a spiritual book mark too. I have to say I normally keep my religious feelings out of my blog as this is really a crafting blog, I hope you can forgive my excitement in sharing this with you as it really was such a wonderful day.I hope you have also had a wonderful week end and  look forward to wandering round a few blogs this week to see what you have all been up to. Love Dawn xx

Morning every one. How have you been? I am working on lots of stuff at the moment, keeping myself busy so not been posting as I usually would with the tea cups and work desks. I hope to pop round and have a nosey at what you have all been up to though. I did manage to get round all the entries from last weeks SCD challenge though and you really know how to have fun with arches and stars. This week it's the last of our Arches and the theme is 'Birds' it's a great theme isn't it? You should pop and have a look at the DT team if you haven't already there are some really great ideas and all to give you inspiration and for us to all have a bit of fun!

Here is a close up of my Arch. I got carried away with DIs used lot of colours and I really enjoy using my vintage music sheets for back grounds, even more so when it's birds lol I have stamped various images and cut out and layered them, stuck a vintage button on and letter in metal and you have my theme for my bird arch, which is Autumn. Hubby and I went out and you could really smell it in the air. All my trees leaves have nearly fell off already, so it was on my mind this week. Any way I hope you can join in I'll be back with some more projects  soon, I hope you have lots of fun it's almost week end. Love Dawn xx

SCD Arches 'Stars'

It's Friday the weekend is almost here again. Time for SCD this month it's arches all month but this week it's 'Stars' and the lovely Sioux has chosen this weeks challenge. So what do stars mean to you? well I think I am still on the theme from last week lol as film stars struck me 1st and I have this super Marylin stamp so I has to use it to make this weeks arch tag.

You can see better on here I have been using Tim Holtz DI and a wee bit of string and a charm so no list today of items. The stamp I have had for some time and I bought it from an on line shop based in Wales but that's all I know but I am sure your aware of lots of stamps from the stamp smith have so many lovely photo kind of stamps, I have a few my self and I always want more lol. I hope you have a super week end but be sure to join in with the SCD DT this week, as we would all really like to see what stars mean to you this week Love Dawn xx.

ATCs

Hello, it's Thursday so the week is almost over, hope it's going well for you so far.  I had some fabby news yesterday, I was given the honor of being a Ginger Gem over at  Gingersnap Creations this was for my 3D letter A. I am very pleased I can tell you, and so I now have a GSC Badge proudly displayed on my side bar for all to see *blush* lol.  Today I thought I would show a couple of ATCs.  I decided to use tape for the base of this one I did hope it would be good to stamp on. However, this is not the case with distress inks, although  I haven't tried stazon as yet! so the smudge you see looks like the shadow of the bird which I re-stamped on separate paper and I think it gives a bit of depth now (so another happy mistake)

This is a twinchie I made a while ago, I have put this on to a masked ATC so this is going to be for challenge 15 over at Linda's Who is looking at page 58 of Tim's CC. I have been round and commented on a few already there are some fabby crafters out there. I missed last weeks grunge flower so I used the grunge flowers I was going to use for last week as this weeks masks. It was a wonderful prize last week of Tim's goodies, no idea what is is this week but I do love to play with techniques don't you? Love Dawn xx

Items Used:- Tape, Tim Holtz Stamps, Stampin up & Tim Holtz. Image, Crafty indivduals. Pearls, papermania. Tiny alphas, Making Memories. Wings, Tim Hotx die & Grunge paper. All other items stash.

Tea cup Tuesday 27

I hope you have had a good weekend. And wecome to  Tea Cup Tuesday This C&S is a tiny little thing, yes the guilt is very worn but I still think it is just lovely.

As you can see it's from Bavaria there are no chips or cracks any where just a little worn, I can imagine how beautiful it was when new and how loved it has been to go through so much wear. What is this cup used for? it isn't how I imagine a coffee/espresso cup to look. However, it is small.

I managed to get a few of these and a sugar bowl too so very delicate and blue and pink in colour and instead of a gold edge in gilt it's a lovely brown colour.

Obviously china this is the bottom of the sugar bowl all are in perfect condition I really have no more room to put any china in,  and I have stopped looking I have a few pieces you haven't seen and if I see some special ones then I may squeeze them into some space lol I have thoroughly enjoyed playing and looking at all your stunning TC&S and feeling of your enthusiasm it's very catching and thanks to all of you who stop by for a nosy at my not so perfect collection. Love Dawn xx

SCD Arch '50s'

It's Friday, woo hoo week end is upon us! and Friday always means SCD this month we are playing with arches and this week it's the 50s what a great theme by Carol Well this was so difficult for me because I love the 50s so much I didn't know what to do would it be clothes, films like Grease, hair or music and each thing I though of has so many possibilities so here is your challenge what to do?

When I was thinking about my Arch it suddenly dawned on me that a 'juke box' had the perfect arch so that's where I started. I drew the juke box then I got my copics out and had a good ol' colouring session. I used water colour paper because I really wanted some texture to the back ground. I stamped some musical notes and found some old photos of some 50s pop idols and I love all of these although I love Marilyn more for her self than any singing she did lol. I hope you enjoy this week SCD challenge do pop over and you'll find lots of varied inspiration from the DT looks like we have all enjoyed thinking about the 50s lol. Have a super week end and I hope to see your efforts. I have to say I am looking forward to the TV on Saturday the return of Merlin and Strictly, as well as X Factor. Autumn is really upon us now isn't it? Love Dawn xx

Items Used:- Colouring, Copic markers. Water colour paper, Crawford & Black. Images, Computer generated.

WOYWW 66 & some ATCs

I know I know it's Wednesday again already, we really must stop meeting like this ;0) As you can see from my desk we are now making the T to go with the A & R I made at the end of last week I may put them on the wall or just leave them on a shelf for a time as I may add a C & F to it at a later day lol so what is T gonna be mmm not to sure as yet whether it will be Travel or France, but I did get a French map for 50p at a charity shop and I knew it would come in useful. there is also an ATC to be finished some stamps lying around and that's about it. So if you want to go have a nosey at the other desks pop along to Julia's there is a link in  my side bar.

I am not sure what to do with these ATCs I am really pleased with how they came out! I am thinking of sending them off for a magazine, but I don't know that I can part with them, mmmm decisions decisions lol you want to send something good off don't you but then when you really pleased you don't know if you can part with it? ha ha. Any way, thank you for stopping by, we're half way through the week now so won't be long until week end again. Love Dawn xx

Tea Cup Tuesday 26

Another Tea Cup Tuesday with Martha & Terri. I missed last week, but I thought I would show you another one of my little charity shop buys. Now these are not china at all but I so loved the colour and pattern on the side plate and cup I had to get them.

However, when I arrived home I notice while washing them that all the saucers were not matching to the cups and side plates. But to be honest I really don't mind they are a good match colour wise, So much so I didn't recognize until  I was home and at £2 for 4x cup, saucer & side plates I wasn't diddled was I? lol

Here are the markings  on the bottom of the cups and side plates and I think they are rather nice don't you? I look forward as always to popping by to see what wonders you have waiting this week for me. Love Dawn xx

Shabby Chic letter R

Hello, how is your weekend going? I hope your all well. I see I am almost at 200 followers gosh, I will have to start thinking about putting a little candy together. I love all my followers each one of you give me confidence you may not all comment but I continually grow and I hope that is because you like popping back and seeing what I am up to ;0)

So I have made another letter ;0) and  thought I would go all shabby. What theme should I do next? any suggestions? Well I got some lovely paint and covered it in metallic gold then a lovely off white pink colour it crackled a little and I sanded a little to see some of the gold underneath, then I went a head and added lots of bit's n bobs.

I really like these frames, how versatile they are. you can paint them cover them in DEP and all sorts of things as in my last post. I really enjoyed making the lace flower, but I can't be sure if it's a little too much? I haven't seen any challenges that I can fit this in to let me know if you see one. I was rather lucky yesterday my letter A fit in to lots ;0) well have a wonderful Sunday, I Love the Sabbath day, thanks for your comments and visits. Love Dawn xx

3D Grunge Letter A

Good Morning, How's your week end Going? I am enjoying the warmth I can tell you. I have made a special piece, called 'I Love Craft'. I have had these paper mache 3D letters for a while and I have finally decided to decorate them. This is the first one and I have gone for the grunge look.

I am also using this for a challenge over at Linda's, She is doing a Tim Holtz Challenge again and this week it's on page 44 Of the CCs, Chipped Enamel.  GSC challenge is 3D so I figure this covers it ;0) SSS&S is Layers and there are lots of layer's of paper glue Distress powder etc ;0) Play Date Cafe is a colour challenge and the colours are on the DP paper (although I admit they are not really main colours but I have missed playing). And finally, at The Shabby Tea Room it's Old meets new. I have used an old letter & image, that I've had for ages with some new design papers.

There are quite a few details. I have used lots of lovely things and I look forward to making my next letter. I think every thing is pretty self explanatory Apart from the bottle cap. I filled this with an image I stamped & inked put some seed beads in, then filled with Glossy accents when dry I also put alcohol inks all over the back (not that you can see that but when I made t I didn't know what I would use if for lol. The metal 'inspire' is a button covered with paint then wiped off. Grunge paper using a TH Die Cut some shaped board and plenty of inks, both distress and alcohol and some really lovely DPs. I hope you have a a good look and please go have a nosey at the DT teams efforts for the challenges I have entered there really good. Love Dawn xx

SCD Arches 'Lace'

This is a special day for me in the SCD DT stakes lol, It's September which makes it a NEW month and this month we are having 'Arches' and I get first pick which is 'Lace'. I know you all have some bits 'n' bobs of lace hanging around. I have used three different types on mine but as long as there is some lace on your arch that's all we ask, so you are free to do any thing you like, isn't that cool? You simply have to go to the Something Completely Different blog there are some fantastic DT arches all to inspire you to play. And with out you we would be playing on our own and that's not half as much fun.

Here's my obligatory close up ;0). I have really enjoyed making this. I love vintage style and lace. I had been thinking about the armed forces and the many letters our boys & girls receive. At the moment our church are all getting little packs together to send to the armed forces and this got me to thinking about all those mum's, dad's, wives, husbands, etc waiting for the next letter or watching the news it must be so difficult. So my particular love to all of you who are in this situation at this time. And with this in mind I have named this arch 'Armed Forces Air Mail'

So how was this made? I took a standard size tag and rounded the top (loosing the hole at the top). I then added some DP and some DIs then stamped some script and butterfly's. I added a strip of lace from top to bottom distressing with ink then I added this beautiful image, to which I added some glass glitter very vintage looking. (oh a little tip for you if you buy the clear glass glitter you can take small amounts and colour to your taste thus ensuring it matches with the inks you are using) I am sure you know this but that's my little tip ;0). Next add more lace to the bottom and top of the arch, yet more glass glitter and then some sweet pearls to finish. Oh and another stamp across the image at the top. I do hope you get to join in with the DT team over at SCD we would love to see what you come up with, Oh and I thought I would put this is a new challenge blog (well new to me ;0) I have found it's called Lot's to do, they are looking for insects or butterfly's and both of them are included in my back ground, I have both butterfly's & bees. I do hope you have a great week end. Love Dawn xx

Items Used:- Stamps, Script SU. and all others Prima. Design Papers (DPs) & Distress Inks (DIs) Tim Holtz. Image, Crafty Individuals. Glass glitter, Deco Ice. Pearls, Papermania. Lace, stash.

ATC Gothic Arch

Hello every one, Thank you for all the wonderful comments yesterday I am getting stuck into using some of the yummy goodies you saw in privious post. I hope your enjoying some sun in the UK some where near you. Wednesday was glorious (got all my washing done!) and looks like today will be much of the same. I am just trying to ease my self back gently into crafting. So I have followed a challenge.

I made these flowers close to two years ago. The odd time I would do decoupage I would often make a few in advance and this has been floating around for this particular moment to help ease me into my crafting again ;0) so be gentle I am feeling very delicate as I'm trying to get back in to the zone!  ;o) I used an ATC and cut to shape of an arch. I then added some DI and stamped the back ground then added my daisy's. I have to say I really love daisy's as a flower and so when I saw this challenge over on Gothic Arches I had to have a go, and Simon Says Stamp & Show (SSSS) is all about layers and you can see there are lots of those. It's not my normal kind of style but I hope you like it none the less. Thank you for stopping by. Love Dawn xx

Items Used :- Stamps, Stamping Up. Inks, Tim Holts, Ranger. Foil decoupage.

WOYWW 65

I hope you all had a wonderful Bank Holiday (in the UK) wasn't it wonderful that the sun decided to make a wonderful unexpected appearance lol and again yesterday. I got so much washing done yesterday lol actually I have been so busy with the ordinary things of life I have still yet to get in to my creative flow. Having my grandson does this lol but I wouldn't swap the valuable time I can spend with him, these moments are so precious I am sure all the grandparents out there will agree.

Any way it is that time of the week WOYWW with Julia I have missed it I can tell you not been able to get round every one now that this amazing phenomena has taken over lol. Like I said I haven't done much crafting over the last month (pretty pathetic for me) as I just love love creating. However, this hasn't stopped me purchasing things (funny that?) but it is so not me to buy and have things in bags all over. I had three bags of things not even opened (shame on me I know) however, I have emptied them all over my desk to sort them out and hopefully I will get something done today (hooray) What would you make with all these new goodies? I have had my fingers a normal colour for far too long it's time to get inky lol thank you for stopping by. Love Dawn xx
