Vintage adverts (so cool!)

Thank you for all your comments yesterday, I have been round some and I will get to the rest soon. Lots of you spotted my little tin I hope to get this up for tomorrow. I'M GOING AWAY FOR A CRAFTY WEEK END!  he he. Yes so lots of things to organise as I am traveling tomorrow (long drive from here almost to Cardiff) it's all going to be about polymer clay and steam punk jewelry and I am very excited as I am going to be meeting new people and learning lots of new things. I am sure you know I love techniques and trying new things. I am going to take my computer and camera but I don't know if I will get to put much on my blog. But I will let you all know what happens, I'm sure lots of you have heard of Jema Hewit. She's for ever in magazines. And will be there teaching the steam punk jewelry class.

Any way on to the adverts, these are some mags I got yesterday I have a couple already and I said in yesterdays post that I would show you a closer look. You are going to love the adverts in these. But I have read some of the articles too and they're really a great trip down memory lane (all though I wasn't even born yet!) these are from 1958 I can still remember some of the film stars, although all the above have long since departed.

I don't know this lady but I do know Deano and Doris lol. Click on this to make it larger and read this! adverts have changed although I think they have the exact same effect but are much more subtle.

Now I loved Elvis look at this right up for his latest film (not very flattering) and it mentions that he will be off to the Army for two years. Will the fans wait for his return (not likely is the thought) but we all know they did wait and loved him even more lol. And look at the wonderful Dean and Doris I loved these I have loads of Doris films and lots of Deano CDs. (may have to get some of his films too).

Look at this. Solid wood game all the numbers will make perfect inchies! £1 for the game I love this.

Well I hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane and the adverts. I think I will photo copy them or scan them (not sure how my printer does that I have never used the scanner) I will have to work it out, I think it would be a shame to cut them up wouldn't it? Well I can't ignor the weather any longer it's sunny and set to be hot hot hot (well hotish) for the week end., so slap on some cream and get out in the sun and recharge, go find some new inspiration, meet with friends or family, but get away from the computer and blog land for a few hours he he. I do hope you have enjoyed this post, I share what makes me smile, and this made me smile. Love Dawn xx

2nd Post of the day & some more Challenges

Hello for the seccond time today, I have been doing lots of stuff maybe I should put less on the blog, but I do love to show you my efforts. Still Loving Paris! I have made this post card.So much work in this, and what fun it was to make. (got very messy) Some card stock used lots of DI and then stamped the Effel Tower then gessoed a script stamp. A photo by CI and altered it, same with the chip board, added it all together so this is entilted 'From Paris with Love' very yummy I do hope I get there this year (sighs!)

This chip board was sanded to an inch of it's life ;0) then crackle paint and emboss powder sprinkled on in places. You can see the texture here and I love how this turned out.

There is a very fine glitter all over this piece and consiquently it was all over me, the dog, cat and various other members of the family lol

On to a challenge, Gothic Arches the theme 'wild & wacky' well a guy with no body singing in a 'Gilded Cage' (this is the name I given this piece) notice the bird is free! well if that isn't wacky or wild I don't know what is lol. This is also being entered for The Three Muses which this week is 'Incognito' I do hope you like it.

This is white card stock, DI and then photo cut out and added, then gold EP and stamped carefully to make sure it looks like the man is safely inside! Then some more stamps in DI round the edges! I had real trouble thinking of something I can tell you!

Next is another challenge for Stampin' Sisters In Christ they are looking for peaceful this week. I think this brings peace, the colours and birds. I just fell in love with this card when it was finished! I think the papers are wonderful K&Co I have used them loads before (you get so many in a pad!) the stamps are indivually stamped with versafine and DI then Clear EP & heated. I have distressed all the edges.

You can see a few of the levels here and the texture I hope. Also the cute little butterflys all glittered.

Thought I would include a close up of the hand made flower, done with a circle scallop punch in the chosen paper then lots of stickles added and the punched leaves. I am sure you all know by now how to make these yummy flowers I have done a tutorial, July last year! you can find it Here If you want to have a look. I have just used three punched scallops instead on one!  then stuck them together, and of course a quick peak inside.

And finally a crafty delivery! going to be some Alice stamped creations floating around! Charity Shop goodies

Hello, Alice in wonderland was very good in 3D enjoyable but won't buy on DVD! I was noseying in a charity shop for some thing to alter or add to my crafty stash and look what I found.

Two of the enamels in the frames were falling out so I removed them and washed them in soapy water, arn't they lovely and I am sure will come in very useful! and the frames are an adorable size so will also come in very handy I think.

I'm not sure what these are made of (brass maybe?) but very thin and very easy to bend! but at a £1 for the two I though well I will get them who knows they may also come in handy lol.

As I sad yesterday I was busy so no time to craft. This morning I call for help "Please can you have James for a few days?" Well I have made plans (it is Mothers day this weekend) I can't have him for a few days but I can have him until Thurs. So no crafting again today!  I am getting into serious withdrawl honest I am itching to make something. Although I am not very well at the moment (not sleeping headaches etc) and crafting really helps so now I have a 16 mth old to run after instead! He has changed again in just a week since I had him, he is a joy, but suppose when your not feeling 100% it is a little difficult to play Mary Poppins all the time ;0) So forgive the none crafty post (Kinda) I hope you like my little finds from yesterdays charity rummage Love Dawn xx
