Scrap Card!

I can't believe how busy this morning has been and as usual, sadly not with craft. Running around for perscriptions etc. However, I found a wonderful thing in a charity shop today. A bedding box on wheels solid wood (no sign of veneer he he;0) and in excellent condition with hinged lid, I have wanted one for years but never been able to find one at a price I could afford. So I am happy I went out today after all! I may also do the shabby chic thing to it and if I can get enough motivation a cusion for the top. I have three large peices of solid wood furniture all to be altered, Just need a few nice days and me and my hubby (braun of the two lol) can get cracking. The weather has taken a turn for the worst here in NW of UK sleet rain well it will be the Easter break so rain had to be on the menu :0(

On to a card! I have seen some love DT examples on a few challenge blogs and I had to make something I was so inspired. Over at The Shabby Tea Room There is a photo for inspiration and a theme of  'Let's get scrappy' I chose to make a quilt from all my scraps, using a lot of scaps lately (this is a really good thing) and they go great with the colour combo over at The Play Date Cafe not by accident I might say lol It's a super colour combo.

Here is a close up of one of my Magnolia images that's been sent to me, coloured with copics, soesn't she look cute. Now my stiching has a lot to be desired, I am so out of practice but  I thought for this card I really wanted to give it ago and so you see the resylts here.

I cut my scraps with a puch then put them through the cuttlebug, three different EF so there would be texture. stuck them to some card then through the machine with some yummy gold thread. Coloured and cut round the Magnolia then some sponge stickies to lift her and a tore a tag to bits to get the sentiment & button ;0) I also used some more of the same scraps to make the actual card and the flowers So truly a scrap card lol.

It's you last chance to day to enter my fabby blogaversary candy as it finishes today I will draw a winner tommorow so pop back if you entered to see if the yummy goodies are on the way to you. Thank you for following, stopping by and most of all taking time to comment. Love Dawn xx

Afternoon every one. I have been struggling for ages with Mozillia Fire fox today it's not uploading comments And I can make new post or comments on any blogs, so I am way behind.  Finally I have come to explorer to upload my Trinchie for the challenge over at SCD the theme this week is crowns. So I thought I would take this opportunity to use another new stamp!

It's the wonderful Audrey Hepburn 'Fashion Icon' but for this purpose the 'Queen of Screen' as I needed to ad a crown lol. I think I have caught the glitter aspect from the GM and EP for once lol I love the shimmer/sparkle from GM they are wonderful! So I stamped the image on an old book page then Sprayed some white CS with the GM used my heat gun (no patience lol) then used some stamps from the craft stamper as a back ground and the crown some more stamps for the sentiment and finished! I have some more new followers who are most welcome thanx for joining me on my crafty journey, If you leave a comment I will definatly get round to your blog. Love Dawn xx

Inchies and a card

Hello every one, how was your week end? mine was very busy but not crafting unfortunatly and so I feel a wee bit rusty and not at my best by far! I apologize for the poor quality of the photo I am entering this for Inch by Inch I missed the dead line for K  is for King  This week is L is for Light bulb. However, Fiona has had a sudden loss in the family and not doing any more  until after Easter. My love and Prayers to you & your family at this sad time.

I have also included two single photos if you want to have a closer look.
I have not been too well over the weekend I think a mixture of going to the hospital and having James for a few days not to mention a little Stomach bug, so I am affraid I think it shows in my crafting today. Lets hope I get better or I will have to stop posting until I can come up with something better ;0) Have since added Glossy accents to the actual bulb to make it more 3D simple addition but make a big difference.

Here is a very quick B'day card for a male, I haven't found any challenges to put this  into as yet! Allsorts is 'rags to Riches. And as all the Dp on this card and the inchies card stock is from scrap I thought these would fit the challenge. I have to say these stamps are wonderful I have just bought my first two and I will have to get some more soon. I stamped the image on white card stock, cut round it, than added to DP and more black cardstock. More DP and aged the edges with some DI made a dickie bow from the black card stock scrap and used a white jelly roll pen to add the polka dots (Laural bow tie) Actually al the DP are scrap bits. So as I said very simple card, A nice quick easy make for a male B'day if you get stuck! Love Dawn xx

Items Used:- DP basic Grey & Bo Bunny. Stamps, Image Stamp Smith, sentiment Inca. DI Tim Holtz Ranger. Card stock SU.Images for inchies (google).

Tag & Post Card

Hello, Hope you are having a wonderful week end. What a busy few days, the computer and printer have made up and are finally speaking to one another again.  James was here for a few days belss,  and so many churcha activities and all have been wonderful.  Any way I can not tell you how happy that the Comp & Printer are back onb speaking tearms. I have already made good use of this wonderful news ;0) I made a post card (PC) for the challenge over at The Three Muses The theme is 'Tea for Two'

I am not a tea drinker or coffee for that matter! But quality time chatting with a gilfriend is what I thought of. I found this photo through google I have printed it off and aged it by crunching it up and adding, tea Distress Ink (DI) and also photo DI to. Same for the card stock too. This photo looked very 1920s I love lots of Art Deco stuff, buildings, pottery jewllery etc but haven't got pennies to collect this kind of art although I did get my paws on some repoduction post cards earlier this week. I have distressd a vintage button & another wooden button from stash. Also distressed the lace by inking & fraying ,sewn the buttons to it then stuck to the PC.

I also chose a photo and perferated the edges with my Cuttlebug to make a stamp, plus lots more DIs and more stamps to make this post card look like a wee bit of France lol. I did tell you I am into very french things at the moment lol still saving a little at a time (hope to get there for a few days this summer) just in case you didn't know already lol.

I have also made a tag for Tag It On  Their theme is 'Favoraite Film' Now this is one of my all time Fave movies, all though I love films and I love so many I have to say this one I can watch over & over and never get board (Like Pride & Predudice BBC version) 'You've Got Mail' is a film I can watch over & over! The origional is wonderful too I have only seen that once when it was on TV it's an old B&W called 'The Shop around the Corner' with James Stewart and the chap that played the wizard, in the wizard of OZ. I managed to find it on Play.com for under £10 very rare I actually didn't think you could get it any more, so thanx for this theme it made me think and now I have the origional version on it's way too!

I really enjoyed making this, It was so nice to get some ink on my fingers again.  It feels like forever since I last made something or posted on the blog! any way,  I even made the little envelopes from some scrap paper.  This is plain white card stock covered in DI and stamps (various) then layered with some images from google relating to the film.

Here I have covered the computer screen with glossy accents (you can just see Toms head shining lol) as well as the words they look like epoxy stickers now and I was really quite thrilled when it was finished. Now don't for get the clocks go fwd in UK on 28th so you will be robbed of an hour in bed however, on the bright side it wont get dark until about 8pm and the nights are going to get lighter ever week now.

I'm looking forward to that craft wise to, the light and also lots of out side food in our garden. Let's just hope the snow stays away and the warm weather continues. Enjoy your wonderful Sunday. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving comments and joining in with the candy, only a few days left now so hurry and join in if you haven't already. I look forward to popping by your blogs and catching up. Love Dawn xx

What I will be upto!

Hello every one, well half way through the week. I have some things coming up. Tomorrow I am going to hospital for an assesment. I know I am going to have an operation but I still have to have another assesment first, then they will send me a date for the 'Op' (something in addition to my disability oh joy!)

Next I am having James until Sat. afternoon so I am going to be busy. There is also alot going on this weekend with my church as we are having a 50th anniversary celebration, this starts with a fireside tomorow evening a musical show on friday and family funday Saturday an evening Ball sat evening (ticket only) and continues until Sunday night with a final fireside. all the church has raised funds for this long event so any one who attends can have a great time and it will not cost them a penny! so the family funday  on Sat. afternoon is full of face painting bouncy castle massarge manicures,  to mention a few, all the members are using the skills and donating free and the  money that was raised will pay for all the other things  bouncy castle stilt walkers, food every thing not a penny will it cost a single vistior and there will be no donation buckets either! it's in  Wythenshawe at my church opposit the Open Univeristy all members and non members are welcome.

Finally I have to take this comp in to try and be fixed I can not cope with out a printer, especially as my art work has taken a different direction of late. I find I can not do a lot of what I would like to because I can't print any thing off the web (photos etc). As I said a few days a go they will want the Comp' for a few days, even then it may not even be fixed! but if they can fix it (it's the disc drive it's not working for some reason) I can load the soft wear back on the comp for my printer (the printer is fine one just can't comunicate with the other) I will be back on the case with some new things to show you.

Now to the photo, I thought I would show you a few things I have got together over the last few days. Some I am saving for a crafty weekend away I am going to in May. But more about that closer the time! The rest is to play with for what ever I find a use for lol. I have to say the doilies were a £1 and there are 72 these will last ages and I thought would come in handy for a few things I have in mind. Bought the playing cards to go with the Alice stamps I bought. The jar, who knows but it's a nice size (pesto jar) oh and I have just painted the box with gesso I hope I get chance to alter it further for the Tuesday Taggers challenge. So if I do go missing (no blog visits, comments etc) you know some one has my computer and hopefully fixing it! and I hope by next week to be back with some lovely new crafty items to show you. If on the off chance I am not back by the 1st April The candy can stay open until I can get back to comp and do the draw (I do hope it doesn't take this long) I am hoping to take comp in tomorrow and get it back by Monday providing they have the time. Thanx for listening, stopping by and any comments. Love Dawn xx

Maternity Card

Hello, gosh there are some busy blogs I have looked at so many I have hardly had time to craft, I am so glad I follow you though, your all very inspiring and I love to look at your work. I have made a card for a friend at church who is pregnant with what will be her seventh child! (I know a lot of children) however, she is a fantastic mother and she has the most beautiful children, and she looks just too fantastic it's so not fair! She doesn't come on here so she will not see this card until I give it to her. I thought I may as well enter it for a few chalenges too. SSIC challenge is clean & simple, as there are no embellies etc I thought I had kept it pretty clean & simple although it was anything but simple to make lol. Sketch Saturday it as usual a fabby sketch. Lots to do (LTD) another new challenge, their theme is Spring I think this card is very Spring new baby's and all the flowers on the swing And Just Us Girls (JUG) a new challenge to me, is a colour combo of brown, green, yellow & blue. as always there are some great DT examples for inspiration so do have a look round these challenges.

Now as I said this was not a simple card to make, and this is not my first attempt lol. I used three stamps to make this image and I had to mask all the images to ink the back ground too! as WOJ are not clear it can be kinda difficult to line the swing up some times and when you get all the lining up right you have to be very cearful when masking cutting round each and every leaf so I could get the back ground just right. Saying that I am very happy with the out come and I am sure Clair will love this card. I thank you to every one for their lovely comments and constant support, and a wonderful welcome to my new followers I have been round to all your blogs and you are a teriffic bunch and very talented and a couple are so new to blog land. I am happy that you have decided to follow me, and as I have said on your blogs the people I have come across are wonderful and always happy to help if you need any. Enjoy whats left of the day. Love Dawn xx

Card &Trinchie

Hi ya. well it's a bit late but hey I was up until 4am last night. I was at Asda at midnight buying New Moon and of course I had to watch Twilight & New Moon (so sad I know) but I wasn't the only person at Asda at midnight waiting for NEW MOON. ;0)

Now on to the card, over at Ginger Snap Creations  the theme is a colour challenge, Copper,Rust or ginger and I have made a copper metal card and some copper glitter for good measure lol. I am also entering this for Quirky Crafts   whose theme is Flowers.

Here you can see the close up of the double flower with copper brad. I really like the mesh flower it adds to the already existing texture.

On to my Trinchie which I am also entering for Ginger Snap creations same colour theme of Copper, Rust & Ginger. This is also for Something Completely Different (SCD) challenge which this month are 'Trinches' and this week is 'music'. I made this on Sunday and having been to church I was thinking how the hymns moved my soul and this is how the sentiment came to mind.

You can really see the texture here of the rust I love this technique. I have used some DP then distressed with DI, die cut the lock & Key from copper then aged with Distressing powder. I really am happy with the effect I love this technique. I hope you like these please do go have a look at the challenges and the DT examples. And I want to hear all about your twilight madness (if I am not the only one that is lol) Love Dawn xx

Tag Tuesday

Afternoon on this wonderful Sabath day. The sun is shining here and washing is out! could it be Spring is here? Well it is on my tag ;0) Tag Tuesday are asking for tags with the theme of Spring, this is a first time for me on this challenge, it's a lovely blog I have found so do go have a look, I had a look round, love what Louise has done with some botanical cards. I  decided to go out side this morning before church and photograph this tag in the bird feeder lol so it's surounded be seeds, fruit & nuts. There was also meal worms but I didn't think you would want to see them lol.

I used a template to make this tag, I used white cardstock, with some of Tim's DI all over then some of these new stamps that arrived on Saturday. The flower is made of felt and put in place with a tiny cute brad. The sentiment is also written by hand as I still can not get the computer talking to the printer, it's been months now and I am really feeling the loss of the printer with some of the challenges I can't print any thing off at all!

This is a close up of the wee bird stamped with DI and then Perfect Pears bushed over to give the sheen, I also lifted him up a little with a sponge, There are some stamps all round and some sequin waste used to make some texture for the top of the tag, finished off with some ribbon. I do hope you like the tag, if you haven't already why not enter the yummy candy I am giving away for my blogaversary I have added quite a bit more recently, I am posting World Wide and all you have to do is leave a comment and have a link with a photo from your blog to mine, and it really is lovely candy given with love to one of  my visitors old  or new for sharing this wonderful year with me. Love Dawn xx

Hello every one, 100 FOLLOWERS WOO HOO! thank you to all that follow old & new. I have added extra yummy things to my candy, it's even more special as I didn't make becoming a follower a requirement of the candy so your following because you like my blog. Thank you thank you, your all most welcome.

It's been a wee while since a made a card so here we are, I have gone for the old size too no big 5x5 today. It's for a few challenges today too! Mojo Monday for the sketch, isn't it lovely? Basic Grey is Tutti Fruitti, I thought the colours I have used covered that, and the papers are lovely with the hearts on it. Alphabet Challenge U for Umbrella this week! the Play Date Cafe for the lovely colour combo. And finally a new blog challenge has arrived The Shabby Tea Room is also a colour combo. So pop along and go have a nosey at all the DT from these challenges as they are all pretty wonderful & Talented too!

I made my own paper for this little umbrella (litterally ;0) I bought a pot of paper perfect. I spread it out on some accitate added some fibers and let it dry over night, I really like it I made some green too! so watch out for that appearing lol. I thought of this sentiment while trying to connect the umbrella to the image, I don't think I have heard it any where else (who knows) but as I thought about friendship and combining this umbrella in to the card this little sentiment came to me and I really like it, it says " Friendship is the umbrella that protects us from the storms of life" I am really pleased with that one lol. Any way better get on with the weekend you all have a fabby time enjoy and be safe. Love Dawn xx

Just a few things to share.

Hello all, I hope this day finds you well, and thank you for stopping by today. This is a gift from my lovely blog buddy Gail she has a wonderful talent don't you think? and it's so much better IRL. Thank you Gail it's YUMMY!!! you can click on Gail's name to be lead to her blog she is a very talented and versitile artist.

Look at my latest little finds. Tea spoon from e-bay 99p keys from a key maker (but what a deal I got for eight beautiful keys I can age my self) The tiny hip flast (I don't drink) but when I saw this it was so tacktile and only 80p how could I leave it in the charity shop? and finally my star buy enamel pocket watch faces.

I had to show you these little beauties close up. I Love them. £10 for 5 may sound a wee bit expensive (and I thought long and hard about buying them) but when you think we pay about £1 for replicas to craft with, £2 each doesn't sound to bad and they are from genuine pocket watches  & Enamel I love them (shame to use them really ;0)

What do you think of these quick little makes? Alice is all the rage at the moment so I thought I would make some and perhaps give them to the kids at church (they can use them for book marks) will have to make some more first though (can't leave any one out lol).

And finally, but by no meens least. A tag. Remember me having no male stamps, well that has been rectified ;0) The peace with the key on is a domino (some of which are in my crafty give away for you to alter how you would like) I have used an old rusty key with the word Italy on and stuck this to my domino, that has had alcohol ink in three colours put on. This has then been glued on to a Label/tag which has been distressed and stamped in various inks and some fibers put on for good measure. I haven't given this a  title as I am not altogether please with the finished product, but I feel I should show some of the mistakes as well as the items I make that I am more happy with. Well it was fun to make even if it's not how I would of liked the finished item ;-\. Love Dawn xx

Items Used:- Stamps Paper Atrsy,TJ Designs, Tim Holts stampers anonymous. Copic markers, Alcohol inks, Paper clips (giant) stash. DP & Card stock SU. Label/tag stash. Domino, Stash.

A Tag!

Here is a tag I am going to use this for a couple of challenges today, first Tag it on (TIO) the theme is 'flowers and a bug' I don't know if you had a paticular bug in mind for each flower? but you offten see butterflys round roses (and my cabages in the garden grr) the other challenge is Simon Says which is 'ST. Patricks Day/splash of green' I have gone with a splash of green. Sorry the photos are a wee bit dark, very cloudy here today!

I have to say I am really pleased with the way the flowers turned out on this tag. there is a mixture of sizes and shade that I think work well together (it does meen I will have to get some more though lol) I like the effect so much.

Another of the wonderful butterflys (two of these are in my Blogaversary candy give away!) they are beautiful aren't they? I have used some card board from some packaging (I have ran out of tags) covered with some DP sanded then inked up the edges with DI. Then some roses & leaves put into place. some lovely ribbon to match and the yummy Butterfly. Oh no, Gasp Horror, this has just made me realise there is no actual stamping on the card, (SO NOT like me not to stamp something) I am sorry if it is a requirement my only excuse is I made this at gone 2am this morning! oh well hope you like it any way (with or woth out the stamping) Love Dawn xx

Altered Wooden Heart

I would like to say a big happy birthday to Ginger Snap Creations (GSC)  it's there bloaversary! they are also having a wee celebration  (lots of goodiesto be had)and I am happy to know of the blog now. I have been joining in their last few challenges, what fun! They are a talented bunch of people and very friendly too. You can click on the link to get to the birthday post, or I have a banner on the left hand side with my other challenge blogs I visit why not give them a go! they are challenging but fun and interesting I love them.

A wooden heart from Provo Craft, what could I do I wonder?

What do you think of it now? I remember the Walt Disney Alice in Wonderland cartoon, I think it's wonderfully done, I love the cattapillar, but when the cards are painting the roses red it's just a wonderful little song until the queen comes and chops off their heads! I have seen the recent one in 3D and although good, the Mad Hatter is fantastic (Johnny Depp) but it didn't quite have the magic of the first one for me. Any way I digress, I have put some Basic Grey paper on and sanded the edges then added some DI. I then stamped the queen on some white card stock coloured her in and stuck her on the heart. I wrote the words on some card, inked it with some DI then aged by DI the edges (fiddily but fun!). Finally I took this rose, from my local habadashery shop (it's foam) then partially collored it, the part  I coloured I soaked in Glossy accents to make the (paint) look wet! with a few drips thrown in. Easy Peesy and I thought this could go on a card or LO at a later date I was quite happy with the end result.

Here is a close up of queeny loosing her rag. Thank you for all your lovely complements on the changes I have been making to my blog, I am really happy with it too! There are lots of freebie sites , from photos to free blog back grounds for all you very creative bloggeres out there, just check down the left hand side and click! plus you can see some of the many blogs I follow, feel free to pop along to one of their blogs too, I have some very creative blog buddies. And of course some of the challenge blogs I visit too. I look forward to reading your comments as always. Love Dawn xx

2nd Post of the day & some more Challenges

Hello for the seccond time today, I have been doing lots of stuff maybe I should put less on the blog, but I do love to show you my efforts. Still Loving Paris! I have made this post card.So much work in this, and what fun it was to make. (got very messy) Some card stock used lots of DI and then stamped the Effel Tower then gessoed a script stamp. A photo by CI and altered it, same with the chip board, added it all together so this is entilted 'From Paris with Love' very yummy I do hope I get there this year (sighs!)

This chip board was sanded to an inch of it's life ;0) then crackle paint and emboss powder sprinkled on in places. You can see the texture here and I love how this turned out.

There is a very fine glitter all over this piece and consiquently it was all over me, the dog, cat and various other members of the family lol

On to a challenge, Gothic Arches the theme 'wild & wacky' well a guy with no body singing in a 'Gilded Cage' (this is the name I given this piece) notice the bird is free! well if that isn't wacky or wild I don't know what is lol. This is also being entered for The Three Muses which this week is 'Incognito' I do hope you like it.

This is white card stock, DI and then photo cut out and added, then gold EP and stamped carefully to make sure it looks like the man is safely inside! Then some more stamps in DI round the edges! I had real trouble thinking of something I can tell you!

Next is another challenge for Stampin' Sisters In Christ they are looking for peaceful this week. I think this brings peace, the colours and birds. I just fell in love with this card when it was finished! I think the papers are wonderful K&Co I have used them loads before (you get so many in a pad!) the stamps are indivually stamped with versafine and DI then Clear EP & heated. I have distressed all the edges.

You can see a few of the levels here and the texture I hope. Also the cute little butterflys all glittered.

Thought I would include a close up of the hand made flower, done with a circle scallop punch in the chosen paper then lots of stickles added and the punched leaves. I am sure you all know by now how to make these yummy flowers I have done a tutorial, July last year! you can find it Here If you want to have a look. I have just used three punched scallops instead on one!  then stuck them together, and of course a quick peak inside.

And finally a crafty delivery! going to be some Alice stamped creations floating around! I will be posting some candy for my blogaversary L8TA to day so stop by if you can so much going on in one day can you stand it? lol leave a comment. I love your comments and it gives me chance to visit yr blog too! However, if you haven't time why not give a quick click of the mouse on one of the boxes underneath the posts.
