Tags shabby chic style

Morning every one, I hope your week is going well. I am currently in a tag mood so I thought I would make some tags today. As you can see there are two tags and I have used the same image. Look how different the tags are even though I have used similar colour pallets and similar items. I love the shabby chic look and although it's Autumn I have used Tim's distress inks so the pinks are rather subdued. I really love making the backgrounds,  I inked them all over then splashed with water and dried to achieve the effect. I also used Tim's technique with the Perfect Pearls on one tag by stamping swirls adding the PP and then drying. As I covered most of the swirls I also used the Technique with the stamp at the bottom You can get more information about this challenge on Linda's Blog So I am entering the tag on the right for the challenge.

Here you can see better in the close ups of the tags. The image (lady) looks rather sad, I think her Fiance was unable to make it to the church on time, why? I will let you decide ;0) Thank you again for stopping by. If you're in to journaling at all why not stop by my other blog Journal Journey's I run a challenge each month you still have time to get your entry in, I hope to see you there. Love Dawn xx

Grungy Monday #24

Hello again. I thought I would make a tag for the challenge this week. This week with Linda & Tim we're going to use some ink, Perfect Pearls & water to perform a really useful technique! Click on Tim's name to be take to a video to show how this can be achieved. This week there is a prize signed by the lovely Tim himself, so even more reason to join in.

Here is a close up of my tag. As you can see I have used the mica powder twice, I wanted to give this tag a really nice Autumn feeling with the colours I have used. I also love texture in my work the perfect pearls gives me this as well as the music paper and the lace. Thank you to those who vist & comment it's lovely to know some one is stopping by.  Can I also remind you that you have until Monday to get your journal pages in over at my other blog Journal Journey's Love Dawn xx

Another Monday, I do hope you have all had a super week end and you are all well rested. We all had lovely weather and my grandson staying so we just had joy. We also have adopted a new puppy called Duke as in (The Duke John Wayne;0) He was my daughter in-laws and she is now pregnant with her 2nd child and has decided having a puppy would be too much. Michael took to him immediately So the house is getting rather full of cats and dogs lol.

Duke and Lola get on very well and he's settling in nicely with the cats to. Another member of the family.

here is this weeks GM with the lovely Linda Studio L3 and this week we're using another one of Tim's techniques. It's always fun to play along with every one here. Over at SSS&S it's all about showing tags so I thought I would also play along here as well this week. Thank you for your continued visits and comments. Love Dawn xx

Grungy Monday 16

Are you gonna have some fun playing this week! It's all about the GRUNGE this week, grunge board/paper from the fabby Tim Holtz and the lovely Linda. I am a special GDT  this week I know, how cool? Also there is the lovely Brenda also GDT member I am sure she is as thrilled as I am, do pop by and have a nosy at Brenda's lovely creations as well ;0)  I had so much fun I played for too long and made lots of goodies I hope your going to join in the fun this week.

And if you have visited before you know I love to make the odd tag lol :0) and I was having SO much fun I thought I should go with a tag too! I have used quite a few Die cuts from Tim. But if you look at the top item you can see I have been making moulds of tim's goodies and filling those moulds with friendly plastic (FP)! And on the tag I have a wee cherub mould and got the FP out again. I also had lots of fun with the emboss folders and sand paper. Oh and you see my die cut flowers, guess what I glued on them before die cutting them? stained kitchen roll (I keep them all from my spraying exploits lol) and then when I need some coloured paper hey presto it's already there and it's already textures and soaks up all my inks (hey we have to recycle don't we?) I know you gonna have loads of fun with this grunge Monday thanks as always for you comments and visits you all keep be going. Love Dawn xx

Grungy Monday 14

Hello it's getting late here in UK 9.30pm. I haven't been around much because the weather has been SO wonderful, I love the sun ;0) So I have been catching up with some reading I have read four books in the last ten days really good fun to read. Any way Monday is here and I have to go and play with Linda from Studio L3 and Tim the master of grunge ;0) And this challenge was lots of fun this week especially playing with Perfect Pearls (PP) & Distress Ink Refills (DIR) so much fun and really great product!

I liked playing with the PP & DIR so much I had to do two at the same time and aren't they vibrant colours, the pigment is fab! One tag is kinda soft steam punk and the other? Well ladies and butterfly's what else is needed, so yummy ;0) You can see the backgrounds in these close ups and the resist technique works really well, so don't forget to pop along to Tims for the technique. I also did some extra stamping coloured with Copics and cut out then added to a tag (Butterfly) and on the other I added some more of Tims goodies as well as a vintage pocket watch face (enamelled) to help give different textures and 3D appearance. Thank you for stopping by, I always appreciate your comments and encouragement. Love Dawn xx

Grungy Monday 08

Good afternoon from England to all my bloggy visitors today. Phew what horrid weather we are having here in the NW all weekend it's been dreadful. But Grunge Monday at Linda's is always there to put a smile on the face :0) Yes it's another week of the challenge that so many of us have a go at. And we are using another of Tim Holtz techniques from 2008 so click to have a look.

Here is a close up, I have used some Stampin' Up! & Sweet & Sassy Stamps to create this little tag/topper? I haven't decided yet. But it did get me thinking that you can make up a few of these ready to pop on a card or even a journal page etc just nice little extra ready to glue in place if you haven't a lot of time but still completely hand made original just from you. Have a go and stop by this grate challenge blog to get all the details. Love Dawn xx

Another tag for SL3

Morning, morning. I have my Grandson with us until Sunday evening, so not much crafting going on. I did however want to do another tag for Linda's challenge over at Studio L3 the technique of Tim's is really easy and I wanted to have another go ;0) See previous tag below.

And I had some new stamps, so I wanted to try these out as well he he. I love steam punk but I wanted a lighter look to it this time rather than all brown/dark colours, I thought I would try some girly colours. I really like how this has turned out. I hope you like it to. I love to read all your comments, it's so nice to know you stopped by. Grungy Monday

Hi, Hope your well and enjoying your crafting journey's where ever you are. This is my second post of the day, I would like to say welcome to my new followers, Penny Gerri & Debs I have to your blogs and what wonderful artists you all are thank you for sharing my crafty journey. Now Grungy Monday, I had to play with this technique of Tim's this week Linda from Studio L3 is asking us to play and get all grungy with tim. This week I liked the technique so much I have already done a few tags ready for when I need one. I love this technique because it's easy & effective.

I was going to go all out steam punk style with this but in the end I went for a softer approach with these new stamps from Crafty Individuals I love corsets (not that I would wear them like the kids do these days ;0) I hope You will stop by again soon, please leave a comment and let me know you were here. Grungy tag!

It's Grunge Monday #2 over at Linda's StudioL3 is a really good challenge this week. I am going to have to get some foam to make some of my very own stamps. And of course this is the wonderful Tim Holtz idea but pop along and have a look for your self.

Here is the close up. I wont go into details of how it was done obviously, but I have used tim's DIs and  Art parts from studio 490. I also used stickles to make my very own swirls and Dylusions paints, I have fell in love with these and her ink sprays to, not as expensive as some but just as good (but kinda better in their own way). As usual I am popping round lots of blogs and seeing lots of great art. I have found a couple of new blogs (added them to my list on the right) I have a switch around and add some newbies when I find them so why not pop round and have a look at a few new blogs this week. You never know what you may find ;0) You can also find some candy on the left (some very yummy stuff) and I have also found a couple more FREE image blogs, I love my freebies (don't we all?) Hello to my new followers, I am so fortunate to have you join me on my arty journey. I hope I can inspire you as you all inspire me. Love Dawn xx

RELAX

Relax, yeh right lol but this lady is very relaxed in her lovely chair. There are quite a few techniques on this tag. I have been at it with paint and wax again ;0) not forgetting a transfer as well. This is for a couple of  challenges one is a brand new one, there only in their 2nd week and they are Paint Party Friday (PPF) This is going to be a popular one I can tell. From what I have read there are no specifics as long as you use paint, I think they will be more challenging as it goes on, with types of paint to use etc. The other challenge is also a new one, I am excited about this one to. This is over at the lovely Linda's blog and it's called Grunge Monday. pop over for details about this challenge needless to say Tim Holtz is a continuing theme.

Here is a close up, like I said plenty of paint and wax, some old book pages and the torso from Tim's new die cut, sewing room. I love it so much lol. Well that's it for today I hope you have a chance to comment, I love hearing what you have to say and it also gives me a chance to pop along to a new blog if you haven't commented before. A big hello to my new followers to Josie & Janna so lovely to see you and I hope you enjoy the journey I am on, I have been to both blogs and they are lovely and full of talent. It's time to get a move on with the rest of the day. Love always Dawn

For my Sweet Hubby

Morning gang ;0) If you read yesterdays post you will know that  hubby and I have our Anniversary on Thursday, and we are still very much in love Aah lol. So with the next event on the crafty calender being Valentines I thought I would use this theme to create a card for hubby and fit a few challenges in while I'm at it lol. Over at Studio L3 Linda is having fun again each Monday with Tim's Book and this week it's rusty grunge. I really do like this technique. I am also playing along with GSC I am using Petra's idea of scraps. And lastly  Artistic Stamper who want to see wings.

The lights was so poor this morning despite us having more snow in the NW of UK today. Here you can see a wee bit better the details of the rusty grunge key which I give to my hubby who used it to set my heart free to love him for all eternity *swoon* the heart is slightly raised over the grungy alcohol inked cage. The wings and heart are made form scraps as well as the obvious vintage music paper. I hope your NY is going as planned and your all well, I'll be popping round a few blogs today to see what you have all been up to. Love Dawn xx

Steam Punk!

Hello, how are you enjoying the week end? Sunny again I love it, can you believe though they are applying for an emergency water shortage, I mean floods in Dec, and how many feet of snow in Jan. Feb. and we will shortly have a hose pipe ban as the water is below 40% in the UK, really shouldn't they have more storage? okey doke whinge over but I am sure many in the UK get very fed up of these enforced water supplies when A. we are an Island and B. we get charged so much for the water we use and they get big fat bonuses of millions and we can't turn the tap on! Spain and other hot countries seem to manage we have a few dry weeks and I said whinge over didn't I sorry on to the art!

I am loving playing with the steam punk bit's 'n' bob's I have. This is an ATC with a lovely little technique  from Tim Holtz book of Curiosity's over at Linda's each Monday we are going to play with a technique of Tim's for I think it's 35 weeks  this is week 2 Fragment Basics and on page 62. you can click on the banner in my side bar to join in the fun or on here. I am also going to enter this for Hel's Sunday Stamper challenge, this week she would like to see metal. (Eyelet, watch faces and corners) I would like to tell you how this was done (I'll leave out the Tim bit as we have agreed. Although I am sure we all have the book right?) any way I used some DI with the TH spongy thing (love this tool I have four now) you may recognise the image on the fragment? It's off the wrapping for the Artsy stamps ha ha I have used alcohol inks to colour it in and then you know the rest I am sure.

Next is some Steam Punk jewellery (can you see the lace they are on? this was a beautiful gift from another friend called Lynn I know a few Lynn's Hope you got the thank you card xx) I have used some plain metal pendants and some yummy images (reduced SO small) I have coloured the metal with alcohol inks.  Then added somal watch parts layer of UV gel then more bits and then more gel it gives a better layered look. The top one is a vintage magnet for the fridge ( I keep being told I really must get an esty shop, do you think people would buy my stuff? I'm not so sure lol) and the other is a pendant but I don't know if I will use it as such yet, I may put it on to another piece.

You can see better here some watch parts and some glass beads finish them off I have also used my UV gel to give them that glass clear like finish as well. I am also going to enter these in to Small world of inchies who are asking for steam punk and Hels SS can I post twice? Any way what do you think of steam punk? I quite like it I have to make up a story for the jewellery pieces yet as steam punk is all about industrial revolution, Victorian and fantasy story's to make the pieces more interesting (like the antique road show if you know what I mean). So these are my goodies. I hope you like them, why not give steam punk ago, it really isn't that scary honest. Love Dawn xx

Items Used:- Stamps Artistic Stamper & Paper Artsy. Tim Holtz Distress Inks (DI)s & Alcohol inks Ranger. Pendants, metal corners, beads and watch parts, Altered Element. Watch faces stash.
