Canvass Angel

It's time again for the party that is  Paint Party Friday (PPF) I love this challenge, as long as there's paint you can enter. And it and the people that join in are so inspirational and just make you want to pick up those brushes and get excited about paint ;0) And here is my piece, a canvass 9 x 12 this was so much fun to create.

This painting glows and is so ethereal, I really got on the canvas what I wanted the painting to express, and this is a wonderful new concept for me when it comes to canvass lol If you can't actually join in I really suggest yhou have a look at the entrants there is some amazing work out there. Canvass 12x9

Hello, first, sad news, one of the kittens passed last night so Paris has four now, it is sad indeed but I expected it from the begging really. I hope she can manage the four she has left and I will of course keep you informed.

I am going to call this 'Poppy Heaven' This is a take on a piece that I did in my journal Here. And I am now thrilled to be able to turn this in to a canvass. I love flowers the sent's and colours they bring. Spring is fantastic for bringing colour. Last year hubby and I went away to Scarborough for a few days. On the way we saw fields of poppy's & linseed and I have since done a couple of journal pages about this experience.

I loved how it turned out so much I decided to do a canvass to. This is a 12 x 9 canvass I have used stencils and paints, sprays paints, gesso etc for the back ground. The actual poppies are torn vintage pages from the book 'Nicholas Nickleby' They were then painted.

Finally the black glass beads were attached and ink is used for the stems. Although these poppies  are not painted in a life like form I still feel the wind that makes them dance in the fields and the beautiful sun on my face of the day,  when I look at them, to me they're as life like as any other poppy ;0) I am also adding a link to Paint Party Friday I am not a talented painter by a long shot but I do enjoy what I do paint and to me enjoyment is the key. However, if you go to the link of PPF you will see some amazing work and it's wonderful to be amongst it. I am also honnored to have two more followers Sheleen & Zoe I have been visiting Zoe for a long time she is a wonderful crafter and Sheleen is a brand new friend I am so happy you have decided to follow my journey here. Love Dawn xx

A wax canvass?

I should be in Harrogate enjoying my self buying stash and wandering around the love town while you are reading this, so I thought I would leave you with something so you wouldn't miss me too much ;0) I think it's official my Mojo has returned making the coasters awoke the artist in me and this is what you get while playing with WAX ;0) It's my first time creating a piece mainly of wax this way, and what fun. I wasn't sure about it, any how you be the judge what do you think?

Obviously this is old material pattern paper (charity shops are marvellous things) and the part of the cover. It just got me thinking about me and my sister, as there is a seven year age gap. The image can say so much and this is why I had to include it. I love how the wax works with text and I will be doing this again soon ;0) with more text. I could really do with a quilters iron lol but at £35+ it will have to wait. don't you find every thing always needs new tools. This is why crafter (me any way) are always penniless ha ha. I hope you like, and welcome to my new followers, Ricardo, Tee, Chelsea, and Martica. It's always fun to share with new people. Love Dawn xx

And as a thank you to those who continue to visit and comment, And because I am away for the week end, (which has put me in a fabby mood) I have also added a couple more of my scanned vintage adverts for you. Love Dawn xx

Canvass 8x8

Morning, hope you are well. Thank you for the comments you have left over the last couple of days, I really appreciate you taking the time to leave me a message. If I haven't all ready been to your blog yet I will get round to having a look at what you have been creating. So I thought I would carry on with the canvasses as I really enjoyed making the back grounds and couldn't wait to get something on the space.

I think I have gone all steampunk! I was going to put so much more stuff on but it just looked crowded so I stuck with the ATC I made and just a couple of extras. Love this new stamp from crafty individuals. The paints I used are Dylusions from AFTH just click the link. So what crafty items have you been making? let me know I would love to stop by. Mini Canvass

I thought I would play with some texture paste and some paint. This is what I came up with a couple of mini canvasses and I love them. Just slap some texture paste (I used Daler-Rowney) with a pallet knife used an old ball point pen and the knife to make some imprints then left it to dry over night. You can speed the process up with a heat gun and leave to go hard for a few hours, as I did. then get your acrylic paints out, two contrasting colours. Lightest first, leave to dry, then the darker one and while still wet get a damp kitchen towel and wipe away some areas to intensify the texture and hey presto cute mini canvass (just over 2x2) as a gift or a little decorative  item.

And as I was playing with paste I grabbed Paris kitten so cute (but not to small now!) and placed her paw in the messy stuff lol I tried to do it with 'The Dude' but I ended up with one white paw print dotted all over the kitchen before I could grab him and wipe it clean So funny, any way Paris was much more accommodating and this is a 1x2 canvass. Process as before only I used green and blue paint. Why not have a go yourself? you don't have to use a kittens paw (would be good for a baby foot/hand print) or you can just use what ever you have lying around to make impressions. I hope you like these cute little items. Love Dawn xx

Folksy Shop (new items)

I have been busy again. However, as I am more organised I have more time phew and those hours are getting filled. I have started a cross stitch  that I've had years, you know, one of those purchases that you have to have but never get round to making. So I hope to show you that soon ha ha. Now on to new makes for my folksy shop. I was encouraged to make more things as I sold my first item over Christmas. I was so thrilled some one wanted to purchase something I had made. So I have made a few items a couple of which I will show here but if you would like to see more then you will have to pop over to the shop ;0)

As you can see I have been playing with lots of things I have had these mini canvasses for ages too so I have used all three to make some yummy One of a kind (OOAK) gifts, with lots of details. The other's are available to look at or purchase at the Shop. The link for my shop in on the left hand side.

I have also been making, post cards. I am not that sure these will sell so I have only made two to test the waters so to speak ha ha. You can see some of my new goodies I got for Christmas here Love this image/stamp.

I have stamped the image on glossy card stock so this looks like a vintage photo on a vintage look post card what do you think? Well that's me for now see you again soon. Love Dawn xx

GSC visiting Artist. Nov 3

Where is November going? is time just racing away or is it just me? I hope you have all had a fun week end or if your like me just happy to get a bit done so you can get to the crafting table ha ha. My mojo kinda of disappeared I couldn't think of anything to do for the GSCs project 'Stitching' Any way I was doing the ol' charity clear out and there was some things I just couldn't give away! Well a denim skirt, silk top and a crochet cardigan, well I can use the material in so many ways can't I? Don't worry I still had a sack of clothes and a bag of shoes/boots to give away. I really should stop eating my own baking so often  ;0) I have gone up a dress size and can NOT be bothered dieting (why worry) so great excuse to give away some stuff and buy new things too he he. So liberating.

I have sewn lots of yummy buttons on here some vintage some not so old, some scraps of material a denim pocket (see all coming in handy already). I used a canvass 5x5 I painted metallic gold then a wee bit of pink. Sorry you can't really see the gold detail on the photos (try clicking on them to enlarge)

I have had these butterfly's in my stash forever, and they are just perfect to go along with this don't you think? I won't insult your intelligence telling you how I made this I think it's pretty self explanatory. Why not pop round to Gingersnap Creations  and have a nosy at the other super designers and see what they have been up to. Love Dawn xx

Autumn Canvass

It's another beautiful Autumnal day out side today, so I am going with it ;0) The The stamp man are on week 7 and each fortnight they have a challenge and they're having, Autumn. Cindy over at Whimsical Musings asked me to play along,  you can enter anything. I have to say I love her other blog I owe it all to him if you get time pop along.  Also Gingersnap Creations who are asking for nutrals and one colour my colour is red! The rest is pretty nutral. And finally but by no mean least is the wonderful Stamping Sisters in Christ are asking for us to think about the Lords creations. I think the seasons are a wonderful part of the creation.

Here is a close up. You really wouldn't believe the amount of layers on this. First I put some Texture Paste on the canvass (left over night to dry) then I got some acrylic paints out, you should be able to see the hills and sky (you can make photos larger if you want to have a look) then tissue paper and lots of it all stamped with DIs and glued on (I used PVA 1/2 and 1/2 with water) Then I die cut out my leaves with the new TH die. This is gong to be so versatile. I used the technique  from page 33 of Tim's book CCs,  with a large  piece of quality card stock then allowed to dry, then die cut. And a final little touch of flakes of foil. The acyclic paints, texture paste and foil are available at the Altered Element. Do pop along to all the DTs I have taken part with they have some stunning talent to show you. Love Dawn xx

P.S. if your wondering why my profile picture is supporting new spotty ears I am helping raise funds for Children in Need so please get some it's only £1 if we all Join in we can make a huge difference Love Dawn xx

Canvas Sparkle

It's still Wednesday and this is my second post, so if you have just had a nosey at my work space thanx for coming to have a look at this little beauty I created yesterday. It's sunny woo hoo I took this just before I was about to put all my washing out lol couldn't have all that in the back ground now could I? So what do you think? This is a kit from 3D Jean Kit for the grand some of £4  I have lots of stuff left over too, so I think it was worth it. I am not usually a kit kinda girl but I saw some of the DT examples and I thought I would have to have a go. I put some of my own crafty ribbon on but apart from that the rest was in the kit and if you do pop by 3dJean Blog you can have a look around, there are a few DT examples  and they are all different so it's a kit that won't look like a million others, it's still your work (if you know what I mean) that is what appealed to me about this kit. I thought I would play with the peeps over at the The Three Muses the theme this week is 'hats & crown & wings & things' so you have to inclued at least one or all of these items I had fun making this little canvas, make sure you pop over the people who play always come up with some knock out stuff!

Now if you look at the first link (the kit) all the items are listed there. I love this Croco paint (which she doesn't sell as yet) it works like a dream and better even than the Ranger stuff so it is on my list of to buys! I have sprayed it with two colours one that came with the kit and an extra colour I bought from the shop too. Talk about glitter!

Look at the sun shining off this, so shiny (Mrs Magpie is popping her head up again) I love sparkle! It was very simple to make just a canvass some paint left over night (It must dry naturally, I am told this is a must for the croco effect to be at it's best) then some sparkly spray and a 1x1 chip board some wire and hey presto .I could make these again and again so I may have to pop by and get some more canvases but you can use the stuff you have in your stash I am sure GM but and the ranger distress crackle (but believe me this croco is a far better product in my opinion so I will be buying this instead of the ranger version from now on and you know I love RANGER!) Okay that's it from me. I will be popping round some blogs but I must get started with that material and those yummy frames from the previous post! Love Dawn xx

Love is in the air!

Hello blog land, I hope I find you all well today. I have been getting messy and I LOVE the results. I had so much fun making this I really felt creative and I hope you like it half as much as I do.

I am really hoping Hubby and I can get to Paris this year so I am doing lots of things that remind me of France. Here is the first close up. The back ground, I hope you notice is a French book (I bought from a second had book shop) for a £1 I tore strips up then got some PVA glue added some water and started to paste it on this lovely canvass from Crafty Individuals.

The gold items are from a pkt of buttons I thought they went really well with the French theme. I stamped some images with Tim Holtz (TH) distress ink (DI) then embossed with some more gold EP on top of the tea DI only in highlighted places, to give a haphazard look.

There has been lots of distressing done to the papers with the DI. Some chip board that I no longer recognize have been altered beyond all description lol

I do hope you like this I have decided to enter it for a challenge with BTC & G whose theme this month is LOVE. Also the Allsorts challenge is destress with buttons & bow , the gold items are buttons (although not a typical ones) and bow well my handsome fello is wearing one will that count? I don't know I hope so, as I forgot to put my burgandy little bow in the corner B4 photographing. Simon Says theme is also LOVE. Speaking of loveTuesday Taggers is also love is all around, so I am popping this into there challenge too! Also I am sure there are lots more challenges I could enter this in for as love is a great theme but this will have to do. Thank you for looking. Love Dawn xx
